ultra feminine female face

Thank you for saying this @scumbelina

i have to disagree because the examples chosen for the bottom right corner definitely look childlike, especially the two top ones seem to appear like that on purpose (hair, angle etc). i dont know why you are acting blind to the patterns behind the pictures that were chosen here to exemplify feminine faces; nobody is making fun of the women (or i would guess teenage girls actually) but of the choices of the creator of what they consider to be feminine.

consider also that femininity is often equated to beauty, and that many of our beauty ideals (clear skin, no cellulite, no fat, no body hair, big eyes, tiny nose, etc) are reminiscent of prepubescent girls. which is definitely reflected here even though the creator obviously only chose young women and models to show that even „masculine“ looking women can be pretty.

i looked up „ultra feminine faces“ on tiktok. yeah no i dont see any specific pattern here that would suggest that young girls have internalised that beauty = desirable = feminine face = childlike features.

this kind of content is directly feeding the beauty industry by installing insecurities in girls and women with different features. because again the message here is feminine = beautiful and the broader sociocultural message to women is that beauty = value.

the popular cosmetic procedures and trends give you a pretty good impression of what is considered desirable = beautiful. we are supposed to look like children with boobs and ass, considering that breast augmentation is the most popular among women, bbls are gaining in popularity, nosejobs for a smaller nose, injections and fillers to make your face look younger and your lips bigger and shaped, and then add fake lashes. im going on a limb here and say that that is not unrelated to the childlike features as children tend to have longer lashes.

the examples they choose for these posts could very well be teenagers whose face hasnt even fully developed yet. this is what the fashion industry has done forever as well. with 25 you’re old in model years.

like all of this is connected and i dont understand how the takeaway of this can be “you are being gross to women with young looking faces”.

Lewis’s law is an observation she made in 2012 that states “the comments on any article about feminism justify feminism.” Lewis has written frequently about misogynist hate directed at women online.[8]

Can we just repeat that a few more times,

“The comments on any article about feminism justify feminism.”

“The comments on any article about feminism justify feminism.”

bolded is important

@blogilates

If I had the “perfect” body throughout history, this is what I’d look like.

Mid 2010s-2018 - Big butts, wide hips, tiny waists, and full lips are in! There is a huge surge in plastic surgery for butt implants thanks to Instagram models posting “belfies”. 🍑 Even cosmetic surgery doctors have become IG-famous for reshaping women. Between 2012-2014, butt implants and injections rise by 58%.

Mid 90s-2000s - Big boobs, flat stomachs, and thighs gaps are in. In 2010, breast augmentation is the highest performed cosmetic surgery in the United States. 👙 It’s the age of the Victoria’s Secret Angel. She’s tall, thin, and she’s always got long legs and a full chest.

Early 90s - THIN IS IN. Having angular bone structure, looking emaciated, and super skinny is what’s dominating the runways and the magazine covers. There’s even a name for it: “heroin chic”.

1950s - The hourglass shape is in. ⏳ Elizabeth Taylor‘s 36-21-36 measurements are the ideal. Marilyn Monroe’s soft voluptuousness is lusted after. Women are advertised weight gaining pills to fill themselves out. Playboy magazine and Barbie are created in this decade.

1920s - Appearing boyish, androgynous and youthful, with minimal breasts, and a straight figure is in! Unlike the “Gibson Girl” of the Victorian Era, women are choosing to hide their curves, and are doing so by binding their chests with strips of cloth to create that straight figure suitable for flapper dresses.

1400-1700 The Italian Renaissance - Looking full with a rounded stomach, large hips, and an ample bosom is in. Being well fed is a sign of wealth and status. Only the poor are thin.

Why do we treat our bodies like we treat fashion? “Boobs are out! Butts are in!” Well, the reality is, manufacturing our bodies is a lot more dangerous than manufacturing clothes. Stop throwing your body out like it’s fast fashion.

Please treat your body with love & respect and do not succumb to the beauty standard. Embrace your body because it is YOUR own perfect body. ♥️

My pedantic ass needs to point out that the Gibson girls were an Edwardian beauty standard, not Victorian, but this is a very good and important post.

funny how women’s bodies are a trend

while men’s have remained the same

@iloveradfems

Funny how men’s bodies are not seen as different parts/pieces assembled together but instead a complete human body

Men’s ideal body: Something that is more or less in line with their idealized but  generally healthy potential.

Women’s ideal body: Something that symbolizes whatever is lacking/desired at a given time and within a given culture. So in times when food is scarce for the average woman, a voluptuous figure is desired. But when food is cheap and people lead more sedentary lives, women are supposed to be super skinny. Women are required to be whatever is harder to achieve - with no regard for our normal physical development.

@valeriesolanaswasright

As women are seen as ornamental, it’s basically like home decor trends. Like how a country-style decor was in during the 90s but out in the 2000s, so you redecorate your kitchen. Women’s fashion is the same, we are always the representation of new styles. We always must be changing our wardrobes and makeup style and hair depending on the trends, lest you be seen as an old “Karen” and therefore worthless. But mens styles are virtually all the same. Men wear the same suit style for weddings, funerals and work for literal decades, but a woman’s dress style will be “out” in just a few years.

If you think female only spaces and female only spirituality hurt others - i.e. males -, you must be assuming that women exist for men, that men are entitled to women’s time, work, attention, (bodies), spaces and servitude, and that women by creating female only spaces deny men something they have a right to, thus hurting them. In other words, you are a misogynist who can’t leave women alone and allow what women do and are to count in it’s own right. Women are allowed to live for themselves.

I’m fine with female only spaces, in fact I’d say it makes a lot of sense, so long as men also get male only spaces.
Seriously, I’d like a gym that isn’t full of women in spandex taking videos of themselves (and others without consent) and posing for attention.
Or how about male only work places? You can basically just get rid of HR department, and keep the fucking AC on.

No one would bat an eye if a major company went female only, but if they tried to go male only they’d be lambasted as misogynistic, bigoted and would be forced to “diversify”.

Does your ideology go both ways? Or are you a hypocrite? I’ll be misogynistic for a moment because I love the idea of female only spaces, as if you wouldn’t just eat each other alive. Meanwhile, men will form a sort of brotherhood and work together.

I’m all for men having male-only spaces. Stay away from us. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The “men will form a brotherhood” assertion gets even funnier when you remember that the number one murderer and rapists of men are… other men.

Like men don’t have what are essentially male only jobs anyway. In almost every male dominated industry, women who try to join are often bullied, sexually harassed, and treated like they’re cripplingly incompetent until they get fed up and leave.

(Meanwhile, men in female dominated industries get what’s essentially a free ride to the top. Look up the “glass elevator”)

Honestly, this has been pointed out before but I feel like it needs more emphasis than ever right now:

Why are women expected to include men in their movements? Why do movements for female liberation and against sex-based oppression have to cater to and be made palatable for men? Why do they literally have to center them?

You wouldn’t be okay with including white people in movements for black people and other ethnicities, e.g. Black Lives Matter.

You wouldn’t be okay with including heterosexual people in movements for LGBT+ people, e.g. Gay Pride.

You wouldn’t be okay with including rich people in movements for poor people, or with including neurotypical and non-disabled in movements for mentally/physically disabled people.

And guess what? RIGHTFULLY SO. These movements are for the oppressed groups, not for the oppressor groups.

So obviously, movements for women — like feminism — shouldn’t include men, but rather acknowledge them as our oppressors. Men as a sex class are an oppressor class, and every single one of them benefits from male privilege just like every white person benefits from white privilege and every straight person benefits from straight privilege.

This is one of the main reasons I left liberal feminism behind.

This is so important. The ONLY reason to involve men is to decenter women. Recently, it seems impossible to even TALK about patriarchal attitudes, their consequences, etc without someone having to bring up “what about mennnn” or “women can do bad things too”

It’s a silencing tactic as well as a way to appeal to female socialization to put men first and ourselves on the back burner. We need to fight this attitude with everything we have at all turns because it is extremely damaging to those young girls and women who are hearing it and are trying to rectify it with their lived experiences. It’s society wide gaslighting essentially.

they didnt give a fuck when men raped and murdered prostitutes but the moment that very same group of men started to get murdered by a prostitute they executed her and branded her as one of the most evil and deranged killers in american history.. i see. very interesting.

The top two US serial killers, Samuel Little (93 victims) and Gary Ridgeway (90+ victims), exclusively murdered prostituted women.

Aileen killed just 7 men.

not only are female prostitutes more likely to be victims of serial killers, but serial killers who kill prostitutes amass a greater number of victims and get away with it longer than killers who don’t target prostitutes (source). aileen was a victim of male violence all her life, and when she turned that violence back on them, the state executed her for it.

You want some serious old fart advice? Never, ever lend your friends more money than you think you can lose permanently. I don't fucking care if they say they'll pay you back. I don't care how small the amount is. Write that shit off as gone in your mind. It will eat at you forever if you don't.

Some people say the same thing about family, but I think it applies more to friends. Family is (usually) held together by obligations the way friends aren't. And money is a huge stressor in all kinds of relationships, not just romantic.

I'm not saying this to bum you out. I'm telling you because this is not something you want to learn on your own. Because it fucking sucks to realize it's one reason you're no longer friends, whether you were necessarily aware of it or not.
